Men's Tennis Posts Impressive 7-2 Victory Over West Liberty On Sunday

ERIE, Pa. - The Mercyhurst University men's tennis team improved to 4-2 overall on the season after an impressive 7-2 victory of West Liberty University at the Pennbriar Athletic Club. The Lakers improved to 2-1 in the spring portion of their campaign.

Head coach Jerome Simon called Sunday's win "maybe the biggest since he took over" as the Lakers were in control from top to bottom against a West Liberty team that defeated Edinboro on Saturday afternoon, 5-4.

In doubles, Mercyhurst won two of the three matches to take a 2-1 lead entering singles competition. Junior Robert Rizea and sophomore Ross Molinaro IV completed their doubles match first, posting an 8-4 win at #3. West Liberty evened the score at 1-1 with a win at #2 before freshman Nenad Terzic and junior Travis Beck teamed up for a 9-8 (7-0) victory at #1 over West Liberty's duo of Andrew Ponder and Santiago Gutierrez.
