Lakers Rally Late But Fall at California (Pa.), 31-21

CALIFORNIA, Pa. – Jaquan Williams and Drew Robinson each scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter but Mercyhurst could not overcome a slow start and early deficit, falling at California (Pa.), 31-21.

The Lakers (5-5, 2-5 PSAC West) have one game remaining in the 2015 season and will travel to Shippensburg on Nov. 14 for a 1 pm kickoff.  Ship lost 51-27 to Kutztown and was knocked out of a chance to play in the PSAC Championship game with the loss, along with West Chester's victory over East Stroudsburg.

Cal came out quickly, building a 17-0 lead in the first half before Mercyhurst got on the board with an 8-yard touchdown pass to John Matarazzo from Zach Emerick.  Cal tacked on another score at the end of the third quarter before Williams hauled in a 15-yard pass play from Logan Weaver with just over 6 minutes remaining in the game.  Another Cal score under the two-minute mark before Robinson's 4-yard run.

Brandon Brown-Dukes led the Lakers' ground attack with 116 yards on 28 carries.  Both Emerick and Weaver finished with a touchdown and over 100 yards passing (123 and 116 yards respectively).

Six Mercyhurst receivers had multiple catches, led by J. Williams six catches for 99 yards.  Donny Holl pulled in four for 35 yards and Drew Robinson, T.J. Latimer, Matarazzo and Brown-Dukes each added two receptions.
