ERIE, Pa. --
Megan Whiddon scored the game-winner and
Samantha Fieseler supplied the first two goals to lift the Lakers to a 3-2 victory over Lindenwood.
The win moves the Lakers to 4-5-1, 4-0-1 in College Hockey America while the Lady Lions fall to 3-6-2, 1-2-2 in the CHA.
Fieseler opened the scoring for both teams and gave the Lakers a 1-0 lead heading into the first intermission before Lindenwood's Sarah Bobrowski and Britannia Gillanders gave the Lady Lions a short-lived 2-1 lead at 13:23 in the second stanza. Fieseler then found the back of the net just over two minutes later at 15:50 to even the score. The goals were the first of Fieseler's career at Mercyhurst.
Mercyhurst struck for the game-winner just 24 seconds into the third period.
Sarah McDonnell stopped 34 shots on goal in the game, including 14 in the second and 11 in the final period. She improves her record to 4-1-2.
The same two teams play again tomorrow to wrap up the weekend series. Faceoff is set for 1 pm.
