Field Hockey Falls, 2-1, at #3 East Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Mercyhurst field hockey team dropped a, 2-1, decision at #3 East Stroudsburg Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play. The Lakers drop to 3-7, 1-3 PSAC while the Warriors improve to 8-2, 3-0.

East Stroudsburg struck first, scoring in the 24th minute off a Desiraye Mack goal to put the Warriors ahead, 1-0.

Senior Emily Koestler would tie the game in the second half when she scored her second goal of the season in the 48th minute.

The Lakers' lone goal would force the game into overtime; however, Ally Roth would score a minute into the overtime period, winning the Warriors the game. The goal was assisted by Desiraye Mack at the 71:08 mark.

The Warriors outshot the Lakers, 22-9, while East Stroudsburg also held the corner advantage, 9-6.

Senior goalkeeper Sam Takac recorded seven saves.

The Lakers will be back action Wednesday, October 7, at 4:00 p.m. when Mercyhurst takes on Indiana Pa. at Tullio Field.
