ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst men's basketball team will host Seton Hill in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division matchup. The Lakers will face off against the Griffins Saturday, January 21 at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center (MAC). Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
The Lakers are coming off a PSAC Western Division win against Pitt-Johnstown, 73-60, at home Saturday afternoon. Jones led the Lakers in scoring, tallying 17 points, while
Gerrae Williams and
Sean Beins both scored in double figures.
Callon Dailey recorded a career-high 10 assists in the win. The Lakers are 8-1 in games when leading at halftime and are 11-2 when holding opponents under 50.0% shooting from the field. Mercyhurst remains one of the PSAC's best in scoring defense (3rd), allowing 63.9 points per game.
The Griffins are coming off two PSAC Western Division wins last week over Slippery Rock, 86-82, in double OT and against California (Pa.), 63-59. Seton Hill is currently third in the conference in field goal percentage, averaging 47.8% from the field. They are also third in three-point field goal percentage, averaging 39.0% shooting from the behind the arc. David Windsor is fourth in the PSAC in scoring, averaging 17.1 points per game. Seton Hill sits in 7th in the PSAC Western Division with a 5-7 conference record, 6-10 overall.
Last season, Mercyhurst defeated Seton Hill in their first ever two meetings. The last time the Lakers beat the Griffins was on January 29, 2014, 57-47.
