Field Hockey Makes Trip to South Carolina for Pair of Games This Weekend

Tracey Mason and the Lakers play at Newberry and #6 Limestone this weekend.
ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst field hockey team heads to South Carolina for two non-conference games this weekend. The Lakers play at Newberry on Saturday, September 27, at 11 a.m. and then face #6 Limestone the following day at noon.

Mercyhurst has a 3-3 record this season. At halftime, it was tied at #2 Shippensburg before the Raiders came away with a victory. The Lakers pulled out a 4-3 double overtime win against Slippery Rock on September 17, as Andrea Goldbach scored the game-winning goal midway through the second OT.
 
Newberry is 2-5, including a 12-3 loss to Bellarmine last weekend. The Wolves will host Mercy on Friday before facing the Lakers. Kaitlyn Willard leads Newberry with six goals and four assists this year.
 
Limestone is ranked sixth nationally after starting the season 6-0. The Saints have knocked off Slippery Rock and IUP, who also lost to Mercyhurst. Limestone hosts Mercy Saturday and then takes on the Lakers Sunday. Rachel Goromonzi paces the team with nine goals and three assists.
 
Blair Pembleton leads Mercyhurst with five goals and three assists. Marissa Faso has tallied four goals, while Goldbach had registered two goals and three helpers.
