ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst volleyball team travels east for four Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover matches this weekend. At Cheyney, on Friday, September 19, the Lakers face Kutztown at 2 p.m. and Cheyney at 7:30 p.m. The next day, Mercyhurst takes on East Stroudsburg at 12:30 p.m. and West Chester at 6 p.m. with both contest being held at West Chester.

Mercyhurst is 5-2 this season, including a 4-0 performance at the PSAC/Mountain East Conference (MEC) Crossover last weekend. The Lakers swept three of the four matches, including a victory over Charleston that saw Mercyhurst hit .586 as a team. That rate is the highest by a Laker squad in the Coach
Ryan Patton era.

Kutztown is 5-1 in 2014, including sweeps in each of their last four outings. The Golden Bears won, 3-0, at Philadelphia on September 12.

Cheyney has a 1-4 record entering this weekend. The Wolves defeated Lincoln (Pa.) in five games on September 9 before falling to St. Anselm and Goldey-Beacom over the weekend.

East Stroudsburg is 4-4 this year. The Warriors went 1-3 at the ESU Invitational last weekend. They beat Pace and fell to Barry, Southern New Hampshire, and Bloomfield.

West Chester is 7-1, coming off a 3-1 weekend at the East Stroudsburg Invitational. The Golden Rams beat Southern New Hampshire, Pace, and Bloomfield and dropped a four-set decision to Barry.

Sarah Wegrzyn leads Mercyhurst with 91 points (81 kills, six aces, eight block assists).
Lexi Stefanov has added 51 points, while
Camille Alvarez and
Lauren Kenny each have 46 points this season.
Kelly Vitt has compiled 179 assists and
Samantha Giardina has 101 digs this year.
