Becca Himes recorded her 200
th career point in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) contest.
The Lakers jumped out to an 8-0 halftime lead on their way to their eighth straight victory. Himes scored 35 seconds in and then assisted on goals by
Hannah Corton and
Mackenzie Jordan to give Mercyhurst an early 3-0 advantage.
Jenna Schlagenhauf followed with a free position goal and then
Anna LeGrett found Jordan at the 13:30 mark. Corton hit Himes a few minutes later, making it 6-0. Himes assisted on a Schlagenhauf goal with 4:30 remaining and then
Carly Zimmerman capped the half with a goal with nine seconds to play.
Edinboro finally got on the board early in the second period, but Schlagenhauf scored her third goal of the day with 21:40 left. The hosts scored two more goals, but Himes hit
Olivia Keirn for a 10-3 margin at the 8:24 mark. The helper gave Himes her 200
th career point. After an Edinboro score,
Taylor Ventre converted a free position attempt. Jordan wrapped up the scoring with a free position goal with 1:49 to play.
Himes finished with two goals and four assists. Jordan and Schlagenhauf each scored three goals, while Corton put up a goal and an assist.
Rebecca Muscella made a pair of saves while playing the first half in goal.
Kyra Maludy played the second half, posting three stops.
Himes has 124 goals and 76 assists in her two-plus seasons at Mercyhurst. She is the fifth player in program history to eclipse the 200-point mark.
On Saturday, Mercyhurst outshot the Scots, 30-15, and won 13-19 draw controls.
Mercyhurst is 9-1 overall and 5-0 in the PSAC. Edinboro fell to 6-4 overall and 2-4 in the league. The Lakers play at #8 Lock Haven on Wednesday, April 12, in another PSAC contest.
