GRAND LAKE, Colo.- The Mercyhurst women's lacrosse team moved up to 12
th in this week's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) poll. The Lakers play at #7 IUP on Tuesday, April 15, at 4 p.m.
LIU Post, Adelphi, and Limestone remained the top three and are the only unbeaten teams left in Division II. New Haven and Lindenwood rounded out the top five this week. Florida Southern, IUP, and Lock Haven were 6-7-8, with Pfeiffer and Le Moyne ninth and tenth, respectively.
Queens was 11
th. Mercyhurst checked in at #12. Stonehill, Regis, and St. Anselm closed out the poll.
The Lakers are 10-2 overall and 6-1 in the PSAC. They beat Gannon, 12-7, last weekend.
Hannah Corton recorded three goals and an assist, while
Rebecca Muscella posted 11 saves in net.
Indiana is 10-2 overall and 8-0 in the conference. It has won eight straight outings, including a 23-3 win at Kutztown last weekend. Drew Hayden tallied five goals and two assists and Brittney Palardy scored six times.
Becca Himes leads the Laker offense with a PSAC-high 67 points (37 goals, 30 assists).
Jenna Schlagenhauf has 41 goals and
Mackenzie Jordan has tallied 39 points (29 goals, 10 assists). Corton has 34 points (23 goals, 11 assists). Muscella has put up an 8.31 goals against average in 11 starts this year.
Hayden and Amy Weinberg pace the Crimson Hawk attack, having registered 57 points apiece. Hayden has 44 goals, while Weinberg has dished out 37 assists. Kim Hooven has 38 goals and Katie Davis has posted a 9.57 goals against average in 12 starts.
The game features the two top offenses in the PSAC. IUP averages 17.5 goals per game, while Mercyhurst scores 15.6 per contest. The teams also lead the league in assists per game and points per game.
