ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst men's basketball team heads to California (Pa.) to conclude its three-game road trip on Wednesday, February 5. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division contest is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

The Lakers are 11-8 overall and 7-2 in the PSAC. They have won three straight games entering Wednesday.
Jonathan Ouegnin leads the team in scoring (10.2), rebounding (5.4), assists (3.2), and steals (1.7) per game. He is also shooting 55.8 percent from the field this season.

The Vulcans have a 9-11 record, including a 4-6 mark in the conference. Four Cal players are averaging 10 or more points a game this season, led by Tynell Fortune at 11.6 points. Alonzo Murphy, Jake Jakubec, and Arman Marks are each scoring between 10 and 11 points per game.

IUP leads the Western Division at 8-2. Mercyhurst is second with its 7-2 mark. Slippery Rock and Gannon are tied for third at 7-3, with Cal, Seton Hill, and Pitt-Johnstown even at 4-6. Clarion is 2-8 and Edinboro is 1-8 this season. The top six teams in each division at the end of the regular season will advance to the PSAC Tournament.

Mercyhurst is giving up 61.4 points per game, fifth-best in the nation. It has held 18 of its 19 opponents under their season scoring average. The Lakers rank seventh in the PSAC, holding foes to 41.9 percent field goal shooting.

California stands fifth in the conference and 16
th nationally in scoring defense, allowing 65.3 points a game. It is second in the PSAC with a plus-2.1 turnover margin.

Earlier this season, the Lakers beat Cal, 64-51, at the MAC. Ouegnin posted 19 points, six assists, and six rebounds. Mercyhurst held the Vulcans to 30.8 percent field goal shooting as Cal made just four two-pointers in the contest.
