ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst men's basketball team travels to California (Pa.) for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division opener on Wednesday, November 19. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Convocation Center.
Mercyhurst is 0-2 this season, having dropped decisions to Fairmont State and West Virginia Wesleyan last weekend.
Damon Jones is averaging 14 points per game, having shot 11-18 from the field in the two outings.
Paris Bennett is putting up 11 points and 6.5 rebounds a game.
Cal has a 2-1 record, including an 89-64 win over Penn State-Fayette on Monday. Five Vulcans scored in double figures, led by Arman Marks with 17 points. Tony Richardson earned PSAC Western Division Freshman of the Week honors after averaging 9.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in two contests over the weekend.
Last season, the Lakers swept three meetings with Cal, including a 54-50 win in the PSAC Tournament. Mercyhurst trailed, 20-19, at halftime before rallying behind
Jean Onana, who scored 19 points in the victory.
Mercyhurst was voted to finish third in the Western Division this season, according to the PSAC Preseason Coaches' Poll. Cal was tabbed seventh in the poll.
