KUTZTOWN, Pa.- The Mercyhurst field hockey team dropped a 3-2 decision at Kutztown Saturday afternoon.

Blair Pembleton scored for the Lakers in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) contest.

Faso got Mercyhurst off to a good start, scoring at the 4:41 mark of the first half. The senior knocked in a rebound for her seventh goal of the year.

After a KU score, Pembleton put the Lakers back on top. At the 24:20 mark, she hit a rebound off the post and the ball crossed the goal line for a 2-1 edge. Pembleton has a team-high eight goals this season.

Kutztown scored twice in a three-minute span early in the second half to take a 3-2 lead. Mercyhurst tested the Bears' defense down the stretch, but could not find the tying goal.

Mercyhurst held a 20-10 advantage in shots and earned eight penalty corners to seven for the hosts.

The Lakers dropped to 4-5 overall and 2-3 in the PSAC. KU improved to 5-4 overall and 3-3 in the league.

Mercyhurst opens a three-game home stand against #1 Millersville on Saturday, October 11. The PSAC contest is set for a noon start at Tullio Field.
