ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst volleyball team hosts Clarion and Indiana (Pa.) in its final home matches of the 2014 season this weekend. On Friday, October 31, the Lakers welcome Clarion for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division match at 7:05 p.m. Mercyhurst and IUP square off the next day at 4:05 p.m.

Mercyhurst is 16-10 overall and 11-7 in the PSAC. It dropped a four-game match at Gannon on Tuesday.
Kelly Vitt recorded 53 assists and
Rachel Crittle scored 19.5 points in the tight defeat.

Clarion sports a 26-2 record, including a 17-1 mark in the league. It swept IUP on Tuesday, as Laura Subject dished out 40 assists. The Golden Eagles have won ten straight entering this weekend.

Indiana is 9-16 overall and 5-13 in the conference. The Crimson Hawks fell in straight sets to Clarion on Tuesday. Lauren Hester put up 13 points in the contest.

Mercyhurst is sixth in the initial NCAA Atlantic Regional Rankings, released Wednesday. Clarion is second, with Gannon, California (Pa.), and Seton Hill following. The top eight teams in each region at the end of the conference tournaments will qualify for the NCAA Tournament.

Saturday will mark senior day for the Lakers as
Camille Alvarez,
Rachel Crittle, and
Tai Lattimore will be honored prior to the match.

Sarah Wegrzyn leads Mercyhurst with 293.5 points this year.
Lexi Stefanov has compiled 266.5 points and Vitt has 994 assists.
Samantha Giardina paces the team with 425 digs.

Taylor Braunagel has scored 276.5 points to lead Clarion. Mackenzie has 270.5 points, while Subject has registered 1049 assists. Morgan Seybold has totaled 618 digs.

Elizabeth Sova has an IUP-leading 273 points and Hester is next with 268 on the season. Lindsay Moeller and Katie Miller have combined for 802 assists. Joie Hrapla has tallied 392 digs for the Hawks.
