ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's soccer team fell to #24 Slippery Rock Saturday afternoon at Mercyhurst Soccer Field, 4-0.
The Lakers played The Rock tough in the first half, as Mercyhurst out-shot Slippery Rock 5-3 and held the corner kick advantage, 3-0.
However, the Lakers could not capitalize on any of their five shots, as The Rock goalkeeper Annabelle Hegeman recorded three saves in the first half.
In the 25
th minute, Slippery Rock's Caitlin Binder received a pass in the middle of the box from teammate Andrea Felix that she was able to handle for an easy shot. Binder was able to beat Laker goalkeeper
Ellie McDougall to the right side for a 1-0 lead.
During the second half, Slippery Rock was able to generate three goals to put the game out of reach.
Tess Keeley passed off to Felix in the box where she was able to beat McDougall to the upper left corner for her fifth goal of the season.
Minutes later, Felix again set up Binder on a lob pass into the box setting up a shot into the upper left of the net for a 3-0 Slippery Rock advantage.

th minute, Dara Demich put on shot on net that was blocked by Laker defender
Fawn Mulholland. The ball rebounded back to Demich for an open shot on net that was buried to take a 4-0 lead.
The Lakers were out-shot 12-4 in the half and 15-9 overall. Mercyhurst kept the advantage in corner kicks, 5-1 but was not able to produce any goals off the opportunities.
McDougall recorded five saves in the contest, but with the loss, her record falls to 3-6-1 in net.
Slippery Rock improved their overall record to 8-2-1 (7-2-1 PSAC), as the Lakers fall to 3-8-1 (2-8-1 PSAC).
Mercyhurst will look to rebound Tuesday, October 14, at home against Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference opponent University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
