ORONO, Maine- The #7/7 Mercyhurst women's hockey team tied Maine, 2-2, Saturday afternoon.
Emily Janiga scored both Laker goals in the non-conference match.

Trailing, 2-1, late in the third period, Janiga scored to even the contest at the 15:08 mark.
Jenna Dingeldein assisted on the goal.
Amanda Makela came up with three saves in the final minutes, sending the game to overtime.

In OT, Makela tallied three more stops, while Maine turned away a Laker try, maintaining the tie.

Jennifer More scored at the 14:30 mark of the first period, snapping Makela's scoreless streak to open the season. A few minutes later, Janiga answered. More was whistled for hooking, giving Mercyhurst a power play opportunity.

Shelby Bram set up Janiga for the tying goal at 18:35 in the first.

Neither team could find the back of the net in the second frame, as the Lakers held a 13-0 advantage in shots. Audra Richards put the Black Bears up at the 11:36 mark of the third period.

The Lakers outshot Maine, 41-18, and won 30-54 faceoffs on the day. Makela recorded 16 saves as she pushed her scoreless stretch to 207:49 before Maine got on the board. Mariah Fujimagari made 39 saves for Maine.

Mercyhurst (3-0-1) hosts Northeastern in a two-game set next weekend at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
