ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst men's basketball team beat Millersville, 69-63, at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center Wednesday night. Eleven different Lakers scored in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover victory.
 
The teams battled to a 28-all draw through twenty minutes. Mercyhurst came out strong to start the second half, going on a 10-1 run to open things up. 
Paul Bilbo scored inside twice and then 
James Ewing made a layup for a 34-29 advantage. 
Beau Samuelson then assisted on back-to-back 
Andy Hoying baskets to expand the margin to 38-29 with 16:30 to play.
 
Jumpers by 
Anthony Lytle kept the hosts ahead, but the Marauders fought back, eventually tying the match at 42 with 12:10 remaining. 
Greg Williams answered with a three-pointer and then 
Terrence Ingram matched the feat, giving Mercyhurst a 48-42 lead with 11:13 showing on the clock.
 
After Millersville pulled within one, Williams hit a jumper and then Hoying converted a three-point play for a 53-47 lead with 8:15 to go. 
H'ian Hale joined the fray, making a jumper and a layup to make it 57-51 with under seven minutes left. Hoops by 
Jonathan Ouegnin and Williams kept the visitors at bay for awhile, but Tavon Parker's lay-in with 2:03 to play made it 63-61 Lakers.
 
Each team missed opportunities over the next minute before Hale found 
Callon Dailey for a 17-footer with 49 seconds remaining. The junior's shot made it 65-61 and the Lakers closed the door with four free throws as time ran down.
 
Hoying finished with 10 points and four rebounds, while Lytle had 10 points on 5-6 shooting. Williams recorded nine points to lead the bench, which totaled 36 points. Dailey scored eight, Ouegnin and Bilbo each added six, and Ingram chipped in five points. Ewing, Hale, and 
Sean Beins each had four points, while Onana hit a three-pointer. Parker led Millersville with 26 points.
 
Mercyhurst shot 52.7 percent (29-55) from the field and contained the Marauders to 38.1 percent (16-42) shooting. The Lakers dominated the glass, outrebounding Millersville, 34-19. Mercyhurst owned a 34-8 advantage in paint points.
 
Lytle and Williams each scored early in the first half, but Millersville hit three three-pointers to take a 9-4 lead after 5:13 of action. A Bilbo dunk was followed by a Parker three. A pair of buckets by Dailey tied the game at 14 with 9:13 remaining in the period. The Lakers took the lead on a pair of Ingram foul shots at the 6:37 mark. Hale found Hoying for a trey from the top of the key, giving the home team a 19-16 advantage.
 
The teams seesawed from there, Onana hitting a triple and then Parker doing the same on the other end. Layups by Beins and Ouegnin were answered by a three and a jumper by Carl Wallace. Beins capped the first half with a layup in the final seconds, making it 28-28.
 
Mercyhurst improved to 7-6 with the win. Millersville dropped to 5-7. The Lakers host #6 Indiana (Pa.) on Saturday, January 11, at 3 p.m.
