Men's Basketball to Host Clarion Wednesday Night

ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst men's basketball team will host Clarion in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division game on Wednesday, January 22. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center.

Mercyhurst is 8-8 overall and 4-2 in the PSAC. It defeated Edinboro in overtime before falling at Slippery Rock last week. Jonathan Ouegnin is averaging 10.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.4 steals per game this season. He is also shooting 53.9 percent from the floor. Jean Onana is scoring 9.4 points a game, while Anthony Lytle is putting up 8.8 points and 4.4 rebounds.
 
Clarion has a 3-11 record, including a 1-5 conference mark. DeMarius Miller leads the team with 16.6 points per game. Mike Kromka is posting 11.3 points and 8.6 rebounds a game. His rebounding average is second in the league.
 
The Lakers have one of the top defenses in the nation, allowing 61.7 points per game. That stands sixth in Division II and third in the PSAC. Mercyhurst has held all 16 of its opponents under their season scoring average. It is also sixth in the turnover margin in the PSAC.
 
The Golden Eagles have registered the fewest fouls and fewest turnovers in the PSAC this season. They also rank sixth in free throw percentage and steals per game.
 
Last season, the teams split a pair of meetings, with the home team winning both games.
