#14 Women's Lax Dominates 2nd Half in 13-6 Win at Edinboro

EDINBORO, Pa.- The #14 Mercyhurst women's lacrosse team won, 13-6, at Edinboro Tuesday afternoon. The Lakers won their seventh straight game as Kayla Minner posted six goals and two assists in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) win at Sox-Harrison Stadium.
 
Rebecca Himes scored to open action 35 seconds in. The Fighting Scots quickly answered and took control of the match. They scored four straight goals, going ahead, 4-1, with 22:59 remaining in the first half. Anna LeGrett and Hannah Corton each scored to cut the deficit, but Edinboro scored a man-up goal to take a 5-3 advantage.
 
The Lakers had a closing kick, however, scoring four goals in the final 3:40 of the period. Alisha Catalino assisted on Himes' second goal and then LeGrett hit Minner for the tying score. With 24 seconds to play, Minner found Himes for another goal. Minner put the Lakers up, 7-5, with five seconds left in the half.
 
The second half was all Mercyhurst, as the visitors scored six consecutive goals to begin the frame. Himes scored from Minner at the 27:24 mark and then Minner scored a goal of her own just 40 seconds later. Catalino finished a LeGrett pass for a 10-5 lead with 18:48 to go. Minner slammed the door shut with a run of three goals over a 14-minute span.
 
Minner finished with six goals and two assists, while Himes had four goals and a helper. LeGrett had a goal and three assists and Catalino had a goal and two helpers. Rebecca Muscella made four saves in net.
 
Mercyhurst recorded 29 shots, while Edinboro had 13 in the match. The Lakers improved to 8-1 overall and 3-0 in the PSAC. The Scots are now 4-4 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
 
The Lakers play on the twice this weekend, beginning with a PSAC game at Kutztown on Friday, April 5.
