Complete Game Notes
MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - The Mercyhurst University men's hockey team will jump right back into action Tuesday when the Lakers travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Colonials of Robert Morris. Faceoff from the 84 Lumber Arena is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
The Lakers and the Colonials have played ten times in the all-time series, with the meetings all square at 4-4-2. However, Robert Morris took three out of four meetings against Mercyhurst last season to even the all-time series.
Tuesday's contest will mark the fourth game in seven days for Mercyhurst (13-10-2, 11-6-1 AHA), which went 2-0-1 in three conference games last week. The Lakers posted a 5-2 win over Canisius last Tuesday at the Mercyhurst Ice Center - a game that saw senior forward
Paul Chiasson become the 15th player in the Division I era at Mercyhurst to register 100 career points.
Mercyhurst then went 1-0-1 against Army last Friday and Saturday. The Lakers and Black Knights played to a 1-1 tie on Friday before Mercyhurst scored a season-high eight games in an 8-1 rout of Army on Saturday. In Saturday's contest, Mercyhurst had seven players score in double figures, led by sophomore
Ryan Misiak, who scored his first career hat trick as part of a career-high four points.
Misiak was named the Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week earlier Monday after leading the Lakers with six points (three goals, three assists) in the three games.
The Lakers are getting sensational goaltending as well from senior
Max Strang. Over his last 10 appearances, covering 578:27, Strang is 7-2-1 with a 1.66 goals against average and a .946 save percentage (282-of-298). He has lowered his goals against average from 3.81 to 2.46 and upped his save percentage from .891 to .924 during the stretch.
The Colonials (14-9-2, 9-8-1 AHA) are coming off of a weekend sweep, at home, against winless Sacred Heart. Robert Morris won by three goals in each contest with the Pioneers, 6-3 on Friday and 7-4 on Saturday. The Colonials are 6-3-1 at home this season.
Senior Adam Brace leads Robert Morris with 10 goals and 17 assists for 27 points. Senior Eric Levine has seen most of the time between the pipes and is 13-7-2 with a 2.44 goals against average and a .936 save percentage.
