Men's Hoops Makes Short Trip to Gannon for Saturday Tilt

ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst men's basketball team heads to Gannon on Saturday, December 7. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division contest is slated for a 7:30 p.m. tip at the Hammermill Center.

The Lakers sport a 3-3 overall record and a 2-0 mark in the conference. They won, 64-51, against California (Pa.) Wednesday. Jonathan Ouegnin led with 19 points, six rebounds, and six assists. The Mercyhurst defense held Cal to 30.8 field goal shooting, including just four made two-point field goals. It is the fewest two-pointers allowed by a Laker defense in at least 12 seasons.
 
Gannon is 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the conference. It won, 68-61, at Slippery Rock Wednesday. Adam Blazek hit 8-12 shots on his way to 26 points, while Rogerio Livramento added 17 points in the victory. The Golden Knights held The Rock to 4-21 field goal shooting in the second half.
 
Ouegnin is the only player in the league leading his team in scoring (12.8), rebounding (5.3), and assists (3.9) this season. He is also shooting 62.2 percent from the floor. Anthony Lytle is averaging 9.8 points and 4.5 boards per game, while Jean Onana is putting up 9.3 points per contest.
 
Blazek paces the Gannon attack with 16 points per game. C.J. Oldham is next with 9.2 points on 62.1 percent shooting.
 
The teams split two meetings last season. In 2011-12, the Lakers swept the season series. They have beaten the Knights in each of the last four seasons.
