#10 Field Hockey Drops 2-0 Decision to #6 Bloomsburg

Mercyhurst won nine games this season, its most since the 2009 campaign.

ERIE, Pa.- The #10 Mercyhurst field hockey team lost, 2-0, to #6 Bloomsburg Saturday afternoon. The Huskies scored twice in the second half of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Center (PSAC) regular season finale at rain-drenched Tullio Field.
 
The Lakers played a strong game, matching Bloom play-for-play for much of the match. Kirsten Rambo, making her first career start in goal, recorded five saves to keep Mercyhurst in the game.
 
In the first half, the teams played a scoreless 35 minutes. The hosts held a 7-3 advantage in shots and 4-2 edge in penalty corners. The Huskies began to control possession later in the match, eventually scoring at the 55:35 mark for a 1-0 margin. Brittany Mathews tacked on insurance 13 minutes later.
 
For the day, the Lakers outshot Bloom 12-8, while both sides had eight penalty corners.
 
Mercyhurst finished the 2013 season with a 9-9 mark, posting its best campaign since 2009. The Lakers scored 45 goals on the year, the most by a Laker unit since the 2002 season. The nine victories are the most by Mercyhurst since 2009.
