The night before, the Lakers rallied for a 3-2 win over Rochester Institute of Technology in the team's last game played at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
Freshman

Jimmy Sarjeant stopped 37-of-39 RIT shots to pick up his third win of the season and his second in conference play.
Sarjeant has taken over the reins as the number-one goaltender for the Lakers and has posted excellent numbers. The junior from Aurora, Ontario is 3-2-1 with a 2.68 goals against average and a .923 save percentage. He ranks third in the Atlantic Hockey Association in both categories. Meanwhile, in conference action, Sarjeant is 2-0-0 with a 2.01 goals against average and a .948 save percentage - second in the conference in both categories. The Purple Eagles (3-6-1, 3-1-1 AHA) will begin an eight-game road trip on Tuesday night. Niagara does not return home to the Dwyer Arena until January 10 and 11 when it hosts American International.
Last weekend, Niagara snapped a five-game winless streak by sweeping the Black Knights of Army by the scores of 5-0 and 8-3. In the first game, the Purple Eagles got goals from five different players and freshman netminder Jackson Teichroeb stopped all 23 shots for his first collegiate victory and his first collegiate shutout.
