ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst volleyball team won, 3-1, over Seton Hill Saturday afternoon. The Lakers won the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division match by scores of 25-22, 25-23, 18-25, and 25-17 in the regular season finale.

Mercyhurst played a strong first game to take charge of the contest. Kills by
Lauren Kenny,
Sarah Wegrzyn, and
Rachel Crittle got the hosts going. Two more Crittle points kept the Lakers in the lead. After the Griffins tied the score at 14,
Camille Alvarez scored and then
Kelly Vitt assisted on kills by
Lexi Stefanov, Wegrzyn, and Kenny as Mercyhurst took a 19-15 advantage.

The teams went back and forth until
Kelsi Romatowski posted a kill for a 23-21 edge. Romatowski teamed up with Crittle for a block and then
Tai Lattimore hit Crittle for the set-ending kill. Mercyhurst finished the frame with 19 kills.

Kenny, making her first career start, scored the first point of the second frame. The freshman followed with another to even the game at four apiece. Seton Hill went up, 15-14, but a point by Alvarez and a Crittle ace put the home team back on top. Stefanov scored twice and then Kenny and Crittle recorded back-to-back kills. Another Kenny point made it 22-20 and then Crittle and Romatowski played closer again, combining for the last three points of the game. The Lakers hit .395 as a team in the set.

SHU won the third game, but the Lakers regained control in the fourth set. A Wegrzyn kill and a Vitt ace gave the hosts a 10-7 lead.
Emily Kainer followed with an ace and then Stefanov scored again.
Nicole Texido served an ace for a 14-9 margin. Points by Crittle and Romatowski stretched the lead and Kenny finished the Griffins with a kill from Texido on match point.

Crittle led with 16 points, while Wegrzyn and Stefanov combined for 20.5 on the day. Vitt posted 31 assists and Texido compiled 21 digs. Wegrzyn added 12 digs and Vitt had 15.

Mercyhurst closes its regular season with an 18-14 record, including a 12-10 PSAC mark. It will wait for a possible at-large bid after next weekend's PSAC Tournament.
