ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst field hockey team won, 6-1, over Bellarmine Saturday evening. The Lakers won their third straight game at Tullio Field.

Allison Brace started the scoring Saturday, finishing inside off a
Meghan Smith assist at the 6:07 mark. Smith set up the Lakers' next goal as well. The senior co-captain crossed the ball into the front of the crease, where
Kelsey Lovelace deflected the ball in for a 2-0 lead after 13:10 of action.

Mercyhurst earned its eighth penalty corner of the first half in the final 30 seconds. As time expired,
Marissa Faso inserted the ball, where Smith took a shot that was saved by the Bellarmine goalkeeper.
Cayla Slade was there to knock in the loose ball, giving the hosts a 3-0 halftime advantage.

In the second half, the Knights scored at the 42:33 mark. The Lakers responded less than three minutes later.
Tracey Mason passed to the front of the crease, where
Blair Pembleton poked in the ball for her team-leading 11
th goal of the year. At the 52:19 mark, Faso found the back of the net, firing a shot through the Knight defense from the right side.
Kelsey Violanti assisted on a
Samantha Siegferth goal a few minutes later to cap the scoring.

Mercyhurst outshot Bellarmine, 15-7, and totaled 14 penalty corners to five for the Knights.
Jess Wess recorded three saves in goal, picking up her ninth win of the season. Kristen Rambo played the final 13:32 of the match in goal.

Coach
Stacey Gaudette's squad is now 9-7 in 2013 and has scored 45 goals this season. That total is the most goals scored by a Laker outfit since the 2002 team scored 46 times.

Mercyhurst plays at West Chester on Tuesday, October 29. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) game is set for a 4 p.m. start.
