EDINBORO, Pa. – Edinboro blanked Mercyhurst 3-0 Saturday in women's soccer The Lakers fell to 4-4 so far this season.
Edinboro came out strong in the first half of the match, scoring in the first three minutes. Karisa Fernandez, a senior, scored her second goal of the season, helped by sophomore Liz Debo. Fernandez roofed the ball to the top left corner over Mercyhurst freshman goalie
Ellie McDougall's head. The Fighting Scots' second goal was scored by Debo and assisted by sophomore Becca Costello. McDougall made a diving attempt but Debo beat her to the far right top corner at the 54:09 mark. Three minutes later, Debo notched her seventh goal of the season, assisted by Costello and sophomore Emma Ryanmiller.
The Lakers were outshot 17-8 by the Fighting Scots. Edinboro dominated the corners as well, nine to three. Freshmen

Perrin Kern all had one shot on goal for the Lakers.
McDougall took the loss for Mercyhurst. She made six saves and allowed three goals. Her record fell to 3-4. Mary Murray got the win in net for the Fighting Scots, splitting time with teammate Meghan Kelly. They both made two saves apiece.
The Lakers will host two matches next weekend at the Mercyhurst Soccer Field. They will host West Chester University on Friday, September 28 and Millersville University on Saturday, September 29. Kickoff for both matches is at 3:30 p.m.
