EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa.- The Mercyhurst volleyball team dropped two matches at a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Crossover Friday. The Lakers fell to host East Stroudsburg in five sets and then lost a four-game decision to Shippensburg.
Against ESU, the Lakers fell by scores of 25-21, 20-25, 27-25, 18-25, and 15-10. The loss snapped Mercyhurst's 12-match win streak.
Amanda Balasko led with 12 kills, while
Becky Leusch had 11.
Kiera Rebert dished out 35 assists.
Camille Alvarez totaled 20 digs and nine kills, while Balasko and
Elyse Texido each posted 13 digs.
As a unit, the Lakers hit .102 in the match, while the Warriors had a .147 attack percentage. Kaitlin Behrens paced the hosts with 23 kills.
In the Shippensburg match, Mercyhurst again fell behind early, dropping the first two games 25-16 and 25-21. The Lakers rallied to take the third set by six points, but the Raiders were too much, winning the fourth frame, 25-22.
Becky Smith led with 10 kills, while Rebert had 27 assists and three aces. Texido compiled 23 digs in the back row. The Lakers hit just .035 in the match, while Ship hit .113 in the four games.
The Lakers dropped to 12-3 overall and 0-2 in the PSAC. They head to Lock Haven for two more crossover contests tomorrow.
