ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst women's lacrosse teams begins its 2012 season at Florida Southern on Saturday, February 25. The Moccasins are in their first year of varsity lacrosse. The match is slated for an 11 a.m. start.

The Lakers went 13-6 last season, advancing to the PSAC Tournament. Hurst returns several top players, including seniors Ally Keirn and Jenny Perkins. Keirn recorded 36 goals and 41 assists, while Perkins had a 9.73 goals against average in 19 starts last season. Coach Cecil Pilson's squad is ranked 10^th in the latest Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) poll.
 
Florida Southern won its inaugural game, defeating Lindenwood, 18-16, on February 19. FSC features no seniors and two juniors on its roster. It will compete in the Sunshine State Conference in 2012.
