Women's Hoops Looks to Get to .500 at Lock Haven Saturday (Video)

ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst women's basketball teams travels to Lock Haven Saturday, February 25, for its last game of the 2011-12 season. The Lakers can improve to .500 with a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division win. The contest is slated for a 1 p.m. start at Thomas Fieldhouse.

A live video broadcast of the game will be available at http://mediasite.lhup.edu/Mediasite51/SilverlightPlayer/Default.aspx?peid=5009d0aa7e174d89a1b182a131411ca31d.

The Lakers pulled off the biggest regular season victory in program history in their last outing, defeating undefeated and second-ranked Edinboro, 59-58 in overtime, on February 22. Nikki Frederickson scored 25 points and Abby Allen hit a three-pointer to give Hurst a one-point lead with 11 seconds left in regulation. Megan Hoffman's free throw with 13 seconds to go in overtime was enough, as the Laker defense forced the Lady Scots into a harried attempt from near midcourt at the buzzer.

The Lady Eagles have lost their last four contests, including a 63-49 loss to #21 Indiana (Pa.) on Wednesday. Haven is 8-16 overall and 7-14 in the league. Lysa Mealing has come on of late, picking up PSAC West freshman of the week honors after totaling 13 points and 15 rebounds in a loss at Gannon on February 18.

In the teams' first matchup on February 1 at the MAC, Mercyhurst won, 80-57, as junior Dana Banda scored a career-high 25 points. She converted 12-13 free throw attempts. Heather McHugh led the Eagles with 13 points on 3-5 three-point shooting.

Coach Deanna Richard's group will look for its second straight .500 season. A win would put the Lakers at 13-13 in 2011-12 after a 15-15 mark last season.
