Meanwhile, Sacred Heart remained winless, dropping to 0-6-1 and 0-4-1 in the conference.

Tibbett saved his best work for the third period, turning aside all 20 Pioneer shots to preserve the victory. Sacred Heart outshot Mercyhurst 20-7 in the final twenty minutes of play. In two games this season, the junior from Indianapolis, Indiana has allowed one goal on 54 shots (.981 save percentage).

Misiak, in the process, has now scored at least one point in all five games this season and has a seven-game point-scoring streak dating back to last season.

Mercyhurst again outshot Sacred Heart, this time by a 16-12 margin in the second period.

The third period belonged to Tibbett, who stopped all 20 Pioneer attempts. Mercyhurst would give the netminder a two-goal cushion when sophomore defenseman Tyler Shiplo tallied his first goal of the season, an unassisted goal, at the 11:38 mark of the final period.
