ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst volleyball team beat West Chester, 3-1, Saturday afternoon at Gannon University. The match was part of a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Crossover this weekend.
 
The Lakers took the contest by scores of 25-14, 24-26, 25-19, and 25-23. Becky Leusch recorded 15 kills and Becky Smith had 13 kills. Kiera Rebert dished out 44 assists, while Elyse Texido posted 20 digs. Mercyhurst played a strong first game, hitting .385 with 14 kills as a unit.
 
In the third set, the score was even at 23 after a West Chester kill. Leusch answered with a kill and then she and Smith capped the match with a block at the net.
 
With the victory, the Lakers are now 16-6 overall and 4-4 in the PSAC. The Rams dropped to 11-11 overall and 2-6 in the conference play.
 
The Lakers host rival Gannon Tuesday, October 9. The PSAC Western Division contest is slated for a 7:05 p.m. start.
