Volleyball Takes on Edinboro Tuesday Night (Video)

ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst volleyball team hosts Edinboro in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division match Tuesday, October 30. The contest is slated for a 7:05 p.m. start at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center.

Mercyhurst has a 23-6 overall record in 2012, including a 10-5 mark in the conference. It has won its last 10 matches. The Lakers beat Clarion and Slippery Rock in four sets each last weekend, extending their home winning streak to 10 matches. They have now beaten every other team in the PSAC West for this first time since joining the league in 2008. The 23 wins are the most for the program since 1993, when the team won 25 contests.
 
Edinboro is 8-20 this year, with a 5-10 record in the PSAC. It enters Tuesday having lost four in a row and seven of its last eight outings. Marah Mayock leads the Scots with 247 kills and Tabitha Meeks has 240. Haley Marett had totaled 454 digs and Katie Felix has 493 assists in 2012.
 
Becky Leusch paces the Lakers with 272 kills and a .255 hitting percentage. Becky Smith has 204 kills and a team-high 102 blocks. Elyse Texido has 544 digs, while Kiera Rebert has dished out 883 assists.
 
On October 13, Mercyhurst swept Edinboro in the first meeting between the teams. Sarah Vick led the way with nine kills and freshman Kelly Vitt had 22 assists. The Lakers hit .229 and the Scots had a .085 attack percentage in the match.
