Field Hockey to Host Top-Ranked Shippensburg Wednesday

ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst field hockey team hosts #1 Shippensburg Wednesday, October 17. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division contest is set for a 3 p.m. start. The game marks the 2012 home finale for the Lakers.

The Lakers won their last outing, defeating Lindenwood, 4-2, October 14. Meghan Smith scored twice as Mercyhurst picked up its first road win of the season.
 
Shippensburg is the top-ranked team in the nation. The Raiders have won their last seven matches, including a 7-2 win over Mansfield October 13.
 
Marissa Faso leads the Lakers with nine goals and 22 points. Smith and Cayla Slade each have five goals, while Blair Pembleton has dished out six assists.
 
Bre White has 15 goals and seven assists to pace the Raiders. Taylor Bender has scored nine goals and Ciarra Delost is allowing 0.91 goals per game in net. Delost has an 11-1 mark as the Ship goalkeeper.
