Field Hockey Falls, 3-2, to Limestone Saturday Afternoon

ST. CHARLES, Mo.- The Mercyhurst field hockey team lost, 3-2, to Limestone Saturday afternoon. The non-conference game was played at Lindenwood University.
 
Marissa Faso scored early to give the Lakers an early advantage. The sophomore found the back of the net at the 4:38 mark for her eighth goal of the season.
 
Rachel Goromonzi followed with a goal 10 minutes later on a penalty corner try. She came back with the go-ahead goal late in the first half, as Kathleen Troutner had the assist.
 
Mercyhurst outshot the Saints, 8-6, in the first half as each totaled six penalty corners.
 
Neither team could score early in the second frame. Goromonzi gave the Saints a key goal at the 67:24 mark to make it 3-1. Faso cashed in a penalty corner attempt with no time remaining to make the final margin.
 
The Lakers shot 17 times to 12 for Limestone. Jess Wess made one save in net.
 
Mercyhurst is now 5-10 on the year. Limestone improved to 10-3 with the victory. The Lakers play host Lindenwood tomorrow. The non-league match is slated for a noon start.
