ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst volleyball team will host a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC)/West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) Crossover event September 9-10 at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center. The Lakers play Seton Hill, Alderson Broaddus, West Virginia Wesleyan, and Pitt-Johnstown.
Hurst split four matches at the Fairmont State Falcon Fest last weekend. It beat the host and West Liberty, while losing to West Virginia Wesleyan and Davis & Elkins.
Becky Smith led the team with 34 kills and
Elyse Texido had 69 digs.
Mercyhurst hosts Seton Hill at 4:05 p.m. Friday. The Griffins are 2-2 in 2011.
The Lakers take on AB at 8:05 Friday night. The Battlers split two matches in Florida last weekend. Last season, Mercyhurst defeated Alderson Broaddus in four sets on September 11. The contest will be broadcast live on the
B2 Network.
On Saturday, Hurst faces Wesleyan at 12:05 p.m. and then UPJ at 4:05 p.m. The Bobcats went 2-2 in Fairmont last weekend, while Pitt-Johnstown lost all three of its matches at the Falcon Fest.
In 2010, Mercyhurst went 5-1 against WVIAC programs.
