ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst volleyball team won at Notre Dame College in straight sets Tuesday night. The Lakers won by scores of 25-23, 25-15, and 25-20.
The Falcons (4-7) played a competitive first set before Hurst took control and swept the match. As usual, Coach
Ryan Patton's squad featured a balanced attack, with five players recording between seven and eleven kills.
Becky Leusch led with 11 and
Gretta Freyermuth added 10.
Amanda Balasko,
Becky Smith, and
Sarah Vick had 9, 8, and 7, respectively.
Kiera Rebert passed out 28 assists, while Balasko and
Nicole Texido each handled 12 digs for Mercyhurst. As a team, the Lakers hit .424 for the contest.
With the win, Hurst improved to 8-6 heading into its first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division action this weekend. It hosts Slippery Rock September 23, at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center.
