ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst volleyball team split two matches at a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Crossover Friday night at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center. Hurst fell to Millersville in four sets before making a dramatic comeback against Shippensburg to win in five games.
In the nightcap, Mercyhurst won 22-25, 19-25, 25-18, 25-21, and 15-5. After struggling early, the Lakers made an exciting rally, eventually dominating the decisive set.
Becky Leusch led a balanced attack with 11 kills.
Amanda Balasko posted 10 kills and nine digs.
Kiera Rebert and
Chelsea Hennigan totaled 38 assists between them and
Elyse Texido compiled 28 digs in the back.
The Lakers lost to Millersville 9-25, 25-23, 25-16, and 25-20.
Becky Smith had 13 kills and
Kiera Rebert had 30 assists. Hurst hit .440 in the first set, but fell off from there and lost the match.
Hurst hosts two more Eastern Division foes Saturday afternoon. It plays Lock Haven at 1:05 p.m. and East Stroudsburg at 3:35 p.m. For a box score of the Millersville match, click
