ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst volleyball team both of its matches on the first day of a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC)/West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) crossover event. The Lakers beat Seton Hill and Alderson Broaddus to improve to 4-2.
Hurst defeated Seton Hill in five sets by scores of 23-25, 25-23, 25-16, 21-25, and 15-12.
Becky Smith had 14 kills and
Sarah Vick had 13.
Kiera Rebert recorded 35 assists and
Elyse Texido totaled 29 digs.
In the nightcap against AB, Hurst won 23-25, 25-14, 25-21, and 25-23. Smith led the team with 10 kills, while Texido posted 19 digs. Rebert had 23 assists and 18 digs in the victory.
In other action at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center, West Virginia Wesleyan beat Indiana (Pa.) 3-1 and IUP defeated Seton Hill in four sets.
Matches continue at the MAC Saturday, with Clarion and Seton Hill getting things underway at 10 a.m. Hurst hosts Wesleyan at noon and Clarion takes on Wesleyan at 2 p.m. The Lakers close out the weekend with a contest against Pitt-Johnstown at 4 p.m.
