Men's Basketball Hosts Top PSAC East Schools This Weekend

ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst men's basketball team will host two Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) contests this weekend. The Lakers take on Kutztown at 3 p.m. Saturday, December 3, and then face East Stroudsburg at the same time the following day.

Hurst is 3-1 this season, having lost at Lake Erie College, 67-51, in a non-conference game Sunday, November 27. The Lakers won at Millersville, 84-75, and at West Chester, 90-71, November 19-20, in two PSAC contests.
 
Sophomore Matt Lee is one of the top scorers in the PSAC with 18.8 points a game. He has connected on a team-high 14 three-pointers this year. Andrew Rickard is next with over 16 points per game, along with 4.8 rebounds, tied for most on the squad.
 
Kutztown is 3-2 in 2011-12. The Golden Bears were chosen to win the PSAC East in the preseason coaches' poll. Senior Nate Edwards was voted to the preseason all-East First Team. He is one of four Bears averaging double-digit points this season. Along with Edwards, seniors Devon McBride and Eric Brennan are also in the PSAC's top 12 in scoring.
 
East Stroudsburg sports a 4-3 record this season. The Warriors were voted to take second in the PSAC East preseason coaches' poll after winning the division in 2010-11. Junior Duane Johnson was selected to the all-East First Team in the preseason. Freshman Whis Grant has been stellar out of the gate, leading the Warriors with 14.7 points per game.
 
Mercyhurst won its lone home game thus far, beating Urbana, 74-58, on November 12.
