Lakers Tame Cheyney in Road Win Friday Night

CHEYNEY, Pa.- The Mercyhurst volleyball team won in three sets at Cheyney Friday night. The Lakers won by scores of 25-7, 25-4, and 25-10 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover match.
 
Hurst controlled action from the start, going ahead 11-1 in the first game. The second set saw more stellar play from the visitors, as Tai Lattimore led the offense to a 10-0 edge before rolling to a 21-point win. In the third frame, many members of the Mercyhurst bench saw time. Senior Kelsey Richardson recorded four kills in the set.
 
Lattimore had six aces and Elyse Texido added five. Sarah Vick led with six kills, while Kiera Rebert had six assists and four aces. The Lakers posted a season-high 17 aces in the victory.
 
Mercyhurst (12-8, 5-4 PSAC) will play twice tomorrow at Kutztown. The Lakers face the hosts at noon and then take on West Chester at 3:30 p.m. in two more crossover contests.
