SHIPPENSBURG, Pa.- The Mercyhurst field hockey team lost, 1-0, at second-ranked Shippensburg Wednesday afternoon. Kristina Taylor scored the game's lone goal at the 62:48 mark to win the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West match.
Hurst hung with the Red Raiders, going into halftime tied at zero. Ship turned up the pressure in the second half, though, putting seven shots on net. Taylor finally cashed in, with Kayla Harshman setting her up for the goal. The Lakers had a corner attempt in the final minute, but were unable to tie the contest.
Ashley Wiskup recorded nine saves in defeat.
Rachel Sluberski put two shots on goal, while
Blair Pembleton and
Meghan Smith each posted one.
Mercyhurst dropped to 7-10 overall and 3-7 in the conference with the loss. The Raiders are 15-2 and 9-0 in the PSAC.
