GAFFNEY, S.C.-The Mercyhurst field hockey team won, 2-1 in double overtime, at Limestone Friday afternoon. Freshman
Blair Pembleton scored the game-winning goal at the 93:51 mark of the second overtime.
After a scoreless first half, Kelsey Barr put Limestone ahead 1-0 in the 49
th minute. The Lakers would respond with a clutch late goal by senior
Katie Erbacher.
Rachel Sluberski shot the ball to the crease and Erbacher deflected it in, tying the contest at the 63:31 mark.
The team played an even first extra period and then Pembleton finally broke through with the game-winner midway through the second overtime. It was Pembleton's second OT score of the season, as she beat Seton Hill on September 13.
Limestone outshot Hurst 25-16.
Ashley Wiskup made seven saves in the victory.
