WATERTOWN, Mass. – The Mercyhurst College men's hockey team stretched its winning streak to four games with an 8-2 whitewashing of Bentley Friday evening in an Atlantic Hockey Association contest at Ryan Skating Arena. With the win, the Lakers improve to 11-11-2 on the season and 9-8-0 in conference play, while Bentley falls to 5-12-4 overall and 4-9-3 in AHA action.
In a game that saw both teams combine for 26 penalties, the Lakers weathered the storm as three different players scored two goals apiece and the penalty kill squashed all eight Bentley man-advantages.

Mercyhurst held a 6-0 lead entering the third period thanks to two goals in the first and four in the second. Ginand and Chiasson accounted for both first period goals at 5:33 and 18:44, while another from Chiasson (5:40), two from Terminesi (8:40, 17:33) and a strike from Raven (10:16) ballooned the score to 6-0 leading into the final stanza.
Ginand added his second of the game midway through the third before Bentley struck back-to-back within a 68-second span to make it a 7-2 game.
Elliott closed out the game with his second of the year at the 18:27 mark.
Senior
Ryan Zapolski earned his third straight win with 33 saves. He improves to 9-8-1 on the season. For Bentley, two goaltenders split time, with Joe Calvi suffering the loss with 11 saves and two goals allowed in the first period. Kyle Rank played the final two periods with 19 stops and five goals surrendered, three of which came on the power play as the Lakers went 3-for-9 with the man-advantage.
Both teams close out the two-game series on Saturday, Jan. 22 with a 7:05 p.m. contest at the Ryan Skating Arena.
