BIG RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Mercyhurst College women's volleyball team improved to 2-2 on the year after splitting a pair of contests on the final day of the Ferris State Tournament.

The Lakers defeated Glenville State, 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-8), before falling in the nightcap to host Ferris State, 3-0  (25-19, 25-23, 25-15).

Against Glenville St., Becky Leusch contributed six kills while Chelsea Jensen added five and Sarah Vick totaled four kills.  Becky Smith posted four blocks with Vick adding another three, while Kendall Ashworth supplied nine digs and Elyse Texido registered three service aces.

In the Ferris State match, Leusch again led the Lakers' offense with 11 kills and Jensen provided support with seven kills.  Defensively, Ashworth posted 10 digs and Texido chipped in seven.

Additinally, Amanda Balasko was named to the all-tournament team.

Next up for the Lakers is the PSAC/WVIAC Challenge on Sept. 10 and Sept. 11.
