ERIE, Pa. – Bellarmine University scored two goals in a five-minute span to complete the 2-1 come-from-behind victory over ninth-ranked Mercyhurst College Monday afternoon.

Fresh off a double-overtime victory against Millersville in a neutral site matchup on the Lakers' Tullio Field a day earlier, Bellarmine's Rachael Walz provided the game-winner at 58:11 to keep the Knights undefeated.

Meanwhile, the Lakers drop their third-straight contest to move to 1-3 on the year.

After a scoreless first half in which the Knights held a 6-4 advantage in penalty corners and a 9-7 advantage in shots, it was the Lakers who came out of the locker room firing.

Meghan Smith's goal at 46:31 gave the Lakers a 1-0 lead and the momentum but the Knights Natalie Perry scored the equalizer just over seven minutes later at 53:51.

Sara Wowkowych assisted on the Lakers' lone goal while the Knights Ellen West helped on the tying goal and Rachael McAllister added the helper on the game-winner.

For the game, the Lakers outshot the Knights, 18-17, including an 11-8 advantage in the final period. Additionally, Mercyhurst totaled 10 penalty corners in the second half to Bellarmine's five.

Goalkeeper Ashley Wiskup recorded eight saves in the loss while her counterpart, Samantha Biedron registered seven.

Mercyhurst is next in action on Saturday, Sept. 18 at four-time defending national champion Bloomsburg.
