ERIE, Pa. – Despite a pair of goals from sophomore Megan Richards, the ninth-ranked Mercyhurst College field hockey team suffered its second straight loss Saturday afternoon, falling to Millersville, 4-2, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover contest at Tullio Field.

The Lakers, standing at 1-2 on the season, fell behind early as Millersville struck for two goals in the first five minutes and held a 3-0 advantage going into halftime.

After the Marauders made it a 4-0 game early in the second half, Richards gave the Lakers a spark and cut the deficit in half with back-to-back goals less than 14 minutes apart.

Nearing the 56-minute mark, senior Kim Seier drove the ball to the right side of the cage and sent a cross-crease pass to Richards on the far post for the quick tap-in. She would later add her second with just under a minute to play, knocking in a rebound from the same spot with 69:16 showing on the clock.

Mercyhurst held a 15-14 edge in shots but, for the third straight game, saw the opposition's goalkeeper take control of the contest. Sara Dickinson turned aside eight of the Lakers' 10 shots on goal to earn the win and out duel junior Ashley Wiskup, who finished with five saves. She is now 1-2 on the season.

The Lakers will look to snap their two-game losing streak when Bellarmine comes to town for a 2:30 p.m. contest on Monday, Sept. 13, at Tullio Field.
