ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst College volleyball team improved to 8-3 on the season with a 3-2 (22-25, 25-20, 25-19, 23-25, 17-15) victory over Houghton.

The win avenges an earlier 3-2 loss to the Highlanders.

Freshman Chelsea Jensen posted a school-record 29 kills, breaking the previous record shared by Jenn Barba and Lyndsi Hughes.  Jensen also recorded four aces on the night while Becky Leusch added a double-digit effort in kills with 13.

Amanda Balasko tallied four services aces to match Jensen for the team lead and also tallied five blocks to share the match-high in that category with Justine Smith.  

Libero Kendall Ashworth posted a team-high 25 digs while setter Julia Butler added 18.

The Lakers are next in action on September 18-19 when they host the Kutztown, West Chester, Cheyney and Edinboro in the PSAC Crossover weekend.
