Slippery Rock, Pa. – The fourth-ranked Mercyhurst College women's lacrosse team scored 16 goals in the second half to pull away from Slippery Rock and win its 10th game of the season, 23-10, Wednesday afternoon at N. Kerr Stadium in Slippery Rock, Pa.
After watching a two-goal lead disappear in the opening minutes of the second half, Mercyhurst (10-1, 5-1 PSAC West) turned aside its upset-minded opponent with a high-powered offensive run. The Lakers outscored Slippery Rock by a 16-3 margin in the final 27 minutes and 20 seconds of play.
Junior
Kristie Jennings, senior
Breanna Haggerty and sophomore
Kimberly Masterton combined for 10 of the 16 goals. Jennings finished the game with six goals and two assists while Haggerty chipped in four scores and two assists. Masterton ended the contest with five goals.
It was a different story in the first half as Slippery Rock held the Lakers to a 7-5 lead. Mercyhurst jumped out to a 3-0 advantage on a pair of goals from Jennings and a score from sophomore
Elizabeth Tice nearing the 20-minute mark. The Rock answered back though, adding consecutive goals to cut the deficit to one. After a Masterton score that pushed the lead back to two, The Rock unleashed a 3-1 run to tie the game at five. Haggerty and freshman
Ally Keirn reeled off the last two of the frame to take a two-goal lead into break.
Both Keirn and Tice finished game with two scores each while senior

Ashley Dulaney and freshman
Lindsay Marafioti rounded out the scoring with single tallies.
Junior
Jessica Raniero earned her first win of the season with eight saves. Mercyhurst finished the game with a 51-23 edge in shots and a 24-11 advantage in draw controls.
Mercyhurst will remain on the road for its next game as the Lakers take on Millersville on Saturday, April 11, at 1 p.m.
