East Stroudsburg, Pa. – Seniors
Breanna Haggerty and
Kristen Toomey scored four goals apiece as the third-ranked Mercyhurst College women's lacrosse team defeated East Stroudsburg, 17-13, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover contest Sunday afternoon in East Stroudsburg, Pa. With the victory, the Lakers improve to 13-2 overall and set the program record for most wins in a season.
Along with her four goals, Haggerty also picked up three assists to mark her fifth straight game of six points or more. She currently leads the team with 61 goals and 84 points. Toomey's four scores improved her season total to 10 goals and 15 points.

Kimberly Masterton each had two goals as the Lakers extended their grip on the all-time series to 5-3.
Trailing 3-2 in the opening minutes, Mercyhurst turned the tables on East Stroudsburg thanks to an 8-3 scoring run that took the teams into halftime. Goals by Masterton and senior
Alicia Guzzo gave the Lakers their first lead of the game at 4-3 while a three-goal run separated the Lakers from their upset-minded hosts at 8-5. ESU stifled the momentum with a strike at 1:24, but consecutive markers from Jennings and sophomore
Elizabeth Tice made it 10-6 heading into break.
East Stroudsburg pulled within one after a strong rush to start the second half. The Warriors netted three unassisted scores and converted a free-position shot around a Haggerty goal to make it an 11-10 game with less than 23 minutes to play. However, the Mercyhurst defense would hold the Warriors to three goals while the Laker offense chipped in six to seal the win. Horeth, freshman

Junior
Maeve McGoff earned the win in goal with 10 saves and four ground balls. The Lakers outshot the Warriors 39-32 and held a 33-31 advantage in ground balls.
Mercyhurst closes out the regular season on Wednesday, April 22, with a 4 p.m. contest at Edinboro. Due to the Fighting Scots being a first-year program, the decision will not count towards PSAC West standings.
