Wheeling, W.Va. – The fourth-ranked Mercyhurst College men's lacrosse team won its third straight game Wednesday afternoon, defeating Wheeling Jesuit, 12-2, in a non-conference tilt at Wheeling Park Stadium in Wheeling, W.Va.
The Lakers (5-1) clipped the Cardinals with 12 consecutive goals over the span of 46 minutes and 10 seconds of the game. Junior
Tyler Burton led the offense with three goals and three assists for six points. Junior

Kyle Plante rounded out the scoring with their first goals of the season.
Mercyhurst did most of its damage in the first half, scoring four goals in the first quarter and three in the second to take a 7-1 lead into halftime. After the break, the Lakers pushed the score to 10-1 before closing out the game with a pair in the fourth. Wheeling added the game's final tally at the 5:00 mark to make the score 12-2.

Jason LaShomb earned his fifth win of the season with seven saves and two goals allowed.
Mercyhurst outshot the Cardinals 46-18 and held a 33-24 advantage in ground balls. Along with his two points, Thon won five faceoffs to help the team finish 9-of-18.
The Lakers return home this weekend to host East Coast Conference foe Dowling on Sunday, March 29 at 1 p.m.
