Lakers Fall at California in Season-Finale

Mercyhurst concludes its first season in the PSAC.
CALIFORNIA, Pa. – Mercyhurst dropped a 70-62 decision in the season-finale at California to finish its inaugural season in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference with a 16-11 overall record and a 4-10 mark in the Western Division.

California moves to 13-13 overall, 6-8 in the PSAC West.

Two players scored in double-figures for the Lakers, with Nnamdi Nnadili posting a team-high 16 points while Jordan Armstrong added 14 points.

Mercyhurst led for the first five minutes of the game but could not take care of the rock and saw its lead evaporate as California went on to score 15 points off Laker turnovers. The Vulcans also used an 11-2 run midway through the first stanza to turn a three-point deficit into a 15-9 lead with 10:54 remaining before leading 33-25 at the half.

In the second half, the Lakers opened strong and tied the Vulcans at 38-38 with 15:09 remaining thanks to their own 13-5 run, but would score just five points in the next eight minutes before their largest deficit of the game.

From there, Mercyhurst mounted a comeback and cut the lead to three with just under four minutes left to play but were unable to complete the come-from-behind victory.
California's Kelsey Williams paced all scorers with 17 points.
